Freeport approves tax break for L.L. Bean corporate HQ expansion

TIMES RECORD • April 29, 2020

A new agreement between the town of Freeport and L.L. Bean will give the company a nearly $10 million tax break as it moves forward with a $110 million expansion of its Freeport headquarters, while simultaneously generating roughly $25 million in new tax revenue for the town over the next 30 years and securing plans to help clean up a polluted stream in town, Concord Gully Brook, which the Maine Department of Environmental Protection has categorized as an “urban impaired stream” for years.
