Key moments in wild turkey hunting since 1977

This year marks the 35th year of wild turkey hunting in Maine. What began with a limited season in 1986 has gradually grown into a statewide hunt.In 2019, 6,612 turkeys were harvested during the spring hunt, and 1,980 were tagged during the fall season, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
