2020 ended as the warmest year on record in Portland

It’s official: The National Weather Service says 2020 was Portland’s warmest year since record keeping began in 1940. With an average temperature of 49.4 degrees, Portland topped the previous record of 49.2 degrees, which was the average temperature in both 2010 and 2012. The normal average temperature for Portland is 46.5 degrees. There were 8 months – January, February, March, June, July, August, September and November – that are now in the top 10 warmest in Portland. Last year was also one of the driest on record with about 6 inches of precipitation below normal.
