With all the trials and tribulations in this nation and world, it seems that we would better focus our complaints on more than the sight of a few dead fish on the ice at Sebago Lake, where, incidentally, the overwhelming majority were processed to supply meals for people in need. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife stocked togue in the lake to provide an additional fishing opportunity, but it didn’t take long before their population threatened the native brook trout and landlocked salmon fisheries. The solution then was to thin the togue population by removing/increasing bag limits resulting in a few fish left on the ice for eagles, ravens, crows, gulls and four-footed creatures that venture out for a free meal. This is nothing more than a display of the natural food chain. Get over it. ~ Joe Bertolaccini, Orrington
