Financier and philanthropist Donald Sussman has donated a historic 153-acre farm on North Haven Island to the American Farmland Trust, which plans to continue using the property as working farmland. The American Farmland Trust, a national conservation organization dedicated to protecting farmland and promoting environmentally sound farming practices, announced the donation of the Turner Farm on Saturday. In addition to its farming operation, Turner Farm is home to a significant archaeological dig that occurred in the 1970s and that included the discovery of artifacts dating as far back as 5,000 years ago.
