Longtime Maine art camp faces its future, without its founder

Not much has changed at Bearnstow, an art and nature camp that opened in 1946 on granite-rimmed Parker Pond. But following the death last year of founder Ruth Grauert, Bearnstow's new leaders try to figure out how to make the Mount Vernon site sustainable going forward. The camp property occupies about 65 wooded acres, most of which are covered by an easement held by the Kennebec Land Trust, which maintains public trails throughout the property.
