Bowdoin College has submitted materials showing proposed upgrades to Pickard Field Athletic Complex would be free of potentially dangerous chemicals, but the Brunswick Planning Department on Friday recommended the Planning Board table the project until it receives an external review of the science. The delay would mark at least a temporary victory for the dozens of residents who have sought to slow or stop the project. Matt Orlando, Bowdoin’s treasurer, stressed, “It is important to stay focused on the data and the science, rather than succumbing to emotion and conjecture.”
