The Maine Warden Service says that this deer hunting season has set a record, with over 42,000 deer harvested. In early November, CBS13 reported that deer vs. car collisions were on the rise in 2022, and experts said we could see those numbers continue to rise throughout the month. Now that the calendar has flipped to December, the numbers from the MaineDOT's online crash query are in. Maine saw 1,205 deer crashes in November 2022 compared to 1,321 in November 2021. November is the busiest month for these types of crashes. In 2021, there were 6,000 deer vs. car accidents. There have been 5,815 so far in 2022.
