Letter: Maine electric industry broken by deregulation

MORNING SENTINEL • March 13, 2022

The Legislature caused this mess with the cost of electrical power beginning in 2000. The citizens of Pittsfield met with representatives of the Legislature, the Public Utility Commission, and utility representatives in the late 1990s. I told the panel they were dreaming if they thought we would get any competition that would lower homeowners monthly bills. These people in the government created the problem. I see no solution. Remember there is no right way to do a wrong thing. ~ Donald Harriman, Pittsfield
