Earlier this week, petition papers were issued to a group of citizens hoping to repeal the recent rezoning of land along the Lake Auburn watershed boundary on Gracelawn Road. The property, home to a large gravel pit, has been at the center of a debate over water quality and development at the lake that has also involved Lewiston officials. The rezoning, approved March 21, removed 148 acres lying out of the Lake Auburn watershed overlay district and into a zone that allows a range of development uses. Another petition effort, submitted on April 20, also looks to repeal the zoning change.
