As the number of communities discovering PFAS in their water and soil continues to grow in Maine, the state's largest university is looking to become a leader in understanding the forever chemicals. The University of Maine could get several million dollars in federal funding to establish a research center and laboratory for PFAS. The money would also be used for research funding. The goal is to not only understand how these chemicals work, but also to find ways to minimize their negative impact.
