Hundreds gather for the 30th Lobster Boat Race in Harpswell

TIMES RECORD • July 24, 2022

Harpswell hosted its 30th Lobster Boat Race on Sunday, drawing hundreds of viewers by land and sea to cheer on and celebrate their fishing and lobstering community. After canceling the race in 2020 due to COVID-19, followed by a low turnout in 2021, people gathered this year to watch the 2022 competition from rocks, beaches and boats. Volunteer Mary Coombs said the races are a chance for the lobstermen to take a break from the stress of newly implemented government regulations.
