Commercial solar industry on track to spend $540 million in Maine by 2027, study shows

PORTLAND PRESS HERALD • August 15, 2022

Maine’s fast-growing commercial-scale solar industry could spend $540 million and create 8,500 jobs by 2027 based on projects underway or in the planning stages, according to a new study. It also estimates that communities could receive $174 million in new tax revenue from those projects over a 20-year period ending in 2046. But critics say the conclusions of the report by a renewable energy trade group ignore the potential impact development subsidies will have on electric rates.
