Column: Reflecting on nearly 50 years on one patch of earth

MAINE SUNDAY TELEGRAM • January 1, 2023

My gardening methods have changed since 1975, when I first picked up trowel and spade at the house where my wife Nancy and I still live. We’ve learned a lot in what is now almost a half a century. In the early days, we tilled, installed lawn, and reached for fertilizers and insecticides. But as time has gone by, we have become more and more attuned to nature's needs in the garden. ~ Tom Atwell
