Valerie Hill’s friends and family know her as an animal person, which is why it made sense when a friend called Monday asking her to remove a wild critter from the house. What Hill didn’t expect was an angry weasel inside a living room recliner. At first, wearing arm-length bite-proof gloves, Hill tried to grab the weasel while it was inside the chair, but the little creature was too fast. “He finally made a break for it and ran into the bathroom,” Hill said. Hill safely grabbed the weasel with both hands, and she and her husband and the weasel ran out to the car, with a plan to take the animal to a wooded area. It was then they learned that weasels have a very odorous musk. The pair drove the furious, smelly weasel a few minutes down the road to the banks of the Orland River. Hill rolled down the window and deposited the creature outside. Hill said that while she’s not a professional wildlife handler, she was happy to help a friend.
