Smoke from controlled burn drifts over Casco Bay

The large cloud of smoke seen over Casco Bay on Friday afternoon is the result of a controlled burn. The controlled burn on Richmond Island is being conducted by the U.S. Forest Service. Controlled burns are commonly done over large areas that have grown up to help manage new growth, as well as pests.
