ACTION ALERT: Protect Dark Skies

LD 1845, An Act to Regulate Outdoor Lighting, would regulate outdoor lighting fixtures. Beginning January 1, 2024, it would prohibit installing an outdoor lighting fixture unless the fixture is shielded to direct the light downward. It provides that if an outdoor lighting fixture is not shielded it may not be operated between 11 p.m. and sunrise. Public hearing, May 8, 1 pm, at Maine State House, Augusta, Environment and Natural Resources Cross Building, Room 216.
