A duck hunter was rescued from deep mud by Sebasticook Lake in Newport on Friday afternoon. Newport Fire Chief Jeff Chretien said the man walked out on the lake bed to retrieve a duck he had shot when he became stuck. The man was stuck for about an hour, Chretien estimated. There were no injuries — “just pride,” he said.
