Beach hazard statement issued for ocean temperatures along Maine coast through Friday

MAINE PUBLIC • July 24, 2026

The National Weather Service is warning of ocean temperatures along the Maine coast in the 50's, which is cold enough to cause hypothermia. Warning Coordination Meteorologist Donny Dumont says offshore winds have pushed warm surface water out to sea and cold water below has risen to the surface.
