Freeport sculptures pay homage to Maine’s state flower — the pinecone

“Pinecones with Tassel,” created by Patrick Plourde of recycled shovels, is the latest artwork to be displayed in front of Town Hall thanks to a partnership between the town and Meetinghouse Arts. “I really appreciate that both the Pinkies and the pinecones have not only the sustainable materials piece, but they’re tied to nature,” said Freeport Town Council Chair Joanna Benoit. “So there’s a tie to thinking about how we interact with our environment.”
