Waterville man drowns in New Hampshire lake

CENTRAL MAINE • August 10, 2026

A Waterville man was found dead Saturday in Ossipee Lake in Freedom, New Hampshire. Members of a local dive rescue team recovered the body of Shawn Meader, 45, from the lake after receiving a dispatch call around 3 a.m. The caller reported that someone had entered the lake for a swim, but had gone under water and couldn’t be located. First responders performed life-saving measures on Meader, but pronounced him dead at the scene.
