Maine’s first fall foliage report of 2026 was released Wednesday afternoon. The state is currently at less than 10% color change, which experts say is typical for early September. The colors will progress from north to south. Northern Maine typically reaches peak conditions the last week of September into the first week of October. The rest of the state will follow, with southern Maine expected to peak in mid- to late October.
