Unidentified body found on Katahdin

An unidentified person was found dead on Katahdin on Monday, according to the Maine medical examiner’s office. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, spokesperson Lindsey Chasteen told the Bangor Daily News on Friday. The cause and manner of death are pending further studies. Baxter State Park has not released any information about the death. Maine State Police and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife were both unaware of the death.
